[Akechi certainly feels much better about it. But both of them are sour losers, which is what makes their battles so riveting. ]

[He waves a hand, urging him on before grabbing his noodle cup to finish up the last bits of egg and nori at the bottom]

[He finishes his cup and tosses it in the trash]

We didn't start until you confronted us at the festival. Me and Mona both noticed way back at the tv studio but we didn't connect you to the Black Mask until much later. We didn't have any reason to suspect you at the time. In hindsight, it feels obvious, but...

That is slightly disappointing you didn't connect it all before but...true. I could just have been knowledgeable.

[A pause.]

I did leave some clues here and there. Testing the waters, so to speak. Not realizing I had already been caught.

I mean, I would have been way more confused by our duel if I didn't know.

[He grins at that- if they were just normal friends, having Akechi suddenly say he hated him might have hurt way more rather than invigorating him. Or maybe not- Akira is aware that he's not Normal in that regard]

Still, all those times we hung out before then? No plotting.

[There's a hestitation in his stance as he hears that. Turning his head slightly to avoid his gaze, briefly, as a cacophony of emotions swell up.]

I hope you realize that as you say that, I'm not the same Akechi.

[He sounds saddened by it. Still, it's not hard to assume Amamiya was the same too. But, it always lingers there. The difference. It could be one of the differences for all he knows.]

[He pauses, trying to word his feelings properly. He's never been good at it]

But I also don't live with that Akechi, do I?

What time we have together can be considered a very unique situation. Even in these forms...or maybe because of them.

[He lightly touches Akechi's knuckles with his fingertips, like when they had pizza before.]

Exactly. Whatever happened before... well it still matters, but... I'd rather focus on now while I have it.

[A brief flash f red on his cheeks.

It's still hard for him to accept this as badly as he wants it, as if he expects Akira to just be toying with him.]

[Akira smiles, resting his hand there but not bringing attention to it]

Did you still want the second answer? I warn you- it's all pretty boring.

[He smiles, briefly. Blink and one misses it, as he relaxs more.]

Boring would be nice, honestly.

Okay, so... a childhood memory. Let's see...

[he tilts his head back to think, lazily rubbing his thumb over Akechi's knuckles]

Okay, so back in my home town we have this river- really more like a big creek- that you can fish in. Usually you would find old men there in the afternoon fishing, and I liked to go down there and watch when I wasn't doing anything after school.

[he had friends, was in clubs. But he was also a quiet and intense child- he was never anyone's best friend before Ryuji and Morgana. So he spent a lot of time alone. Even then he found much more company in adults- ironic, considering the PT's credo]

And one time one of the fishermen had set up a little gas grill to just put the fish right off the hook and cook them. I remember watching him clean them and grill them up- it was kinda gross but it wasn't the first time I saw fish guts so it wasn't too bad. Anyway, he saw me watching and had me come over, and taught me how to do it and gave me some of the grilled fish to eat too. I remember... picking the bones out with my chopsticks.

[like a funeral. He remembers thinking that specificly ar the time too. Morbid for a ten year old, maybe. But that thought, the fishing, the cooking, the loneliness... in a way it was all a very Akira forming moment.]

It tasted pretty damn good. And I remember thinking I wanted to get good with a knife like that too. Ironic, huh?

[He's quiet at first, pondering Akira's words in silence, only speaking right before it becomes too uncomfortable.]

It's a nice memory.

[He tries to imagine it in his mind.]

An interesting way to want to be able to use a knife, true. Still, it's very you somehow to want to do that with an activity most would consider typical and mundane. You can probably guess why I wanted to use a sword.

[Flashy and sentai-like. Akechi was a nobody so everything about his fake personality and his metaverse was a constant reminder to the world that he existed and wanted to be noticed.]

We should go fishing before you become a demon.

[He nods, he can absolutely guess. A hero. Someone Special. The complete opposite of someone that would use a dagger.]

We should. Not that I CAN'T as a demon, but water is just more fun as a kelpie.

It's too bad really, about the Kelpie's weakness. Otherwise I'd encourage getting demonic wings for flight. You could even be a flying pegasi.

Oh, that would be pretty cool. I'll admit though, I'm not going to stop at demon. As long as I keep getting coins I'm gonna buy powers- might as well. Go full chimera.

I need to figure out what to ask Mana. Spellwise, that is. I think I quite like being a Goblin.

[It's a rare monster. More unique, in it's own way.]
